Evan Funke's latest trattoria in Venice, California is an incredible addition to LA's burgeoning culinary scene— it also marks the chef's triumphant return to the restaurant world.

Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe

 

I first sampled Chef Funke's unbelievable pasta at his other restaurant, Bucato in Culver City and I was completely blown away. That place closed in 2015 and now, after a self-imposed hiatus, the eccentric culinary master has returned with a new experience called Felix— interestingly housed at the old Joe's Restaurant on Abbot Kinney.

TrTofie: Pesto Genovese, pecorino stagionato

 

 

Dining at Felix is nothing short of exquisite. My only regret is that I didn't take more pictures because I was too busy eating! Guess that means I will have to go back. 

Fiori Di Zucca: Squash blossoms, fior di latte & green garlic

 

Fun note: there is a sealed, temperature controlled pasta laboratory in the center of the restaurant that maintains a very strict climate, which is apparently ideal for creating pasta. I mean... with extreme attention to detail like that, why are you not eating there right now? Why am I not eating there right now?

Capunti: Sausage sugo, broccoli di cicco, peperoncino & pecorino
